Maths Learning.

Volume And MeasurementThis term in maths, we have been learning about volume and measurement. During maths  I learned about the 3 dimensions. The 3 dimensions are width, height, and length. I also learned how to calculate the volume. At the beginning of the term we used the cubes and the blocks to do some maths. We did some problem solving and we had to build a rectangular prism. It was super fun. Last week we have been working on some boxes. We named all the boxes. It was box A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and H. All the boxes were different. We had to estimate which box is the smallest to the biggest. Here are the boxes:My estimation was B,D,C,A,G,F,H,E. When we finished our guessing which box was the smallest to the biggest box we then started measuring the boxes. We were all put into groups to measure. I was with Angelina and Savahn. They were great partners to work with. The first box we measured was box B.
Box B was the one that I estimated that was the smallest. Me and my group measured the Width first. The width was 8.4 cm. Mrs Moore said that if it is point something move it down or up. We moved it down to 8.4 because 8.4 was close to 8cm. So the width was 8 cm. Next we measured the length. The length was 9 cm, and the height was 5 cm. We had to times 5 cm by 9 cm by 8 cm. Our equation was 5 X 8= 40 cm. Now we just had to figure out what 40 X 9. It was really hard until Angelina found out a way to figure it out. She did a really cool equation and we got it. The answer was 360  <.< This Is How She did it It was a really smart move. Well done Angelina!!The next box we measured was Box G. I asked Savahn to measure us the measurements. We measured the Width and it =  16.3 cm we moved it down to 16 cm because 16.3 cm is closer to 16 cm. Next Savahn measured the Length. The length = 8.9 cm. We moved it up to make 9 cm because 8.9 cm is close to 9cm. Then we measured the leg nth and it = 30.1 cm we moved it down to 30 cm because 31.cm is closer to 30 cm.  The next day we had to figure out the volume for Box. G. We times 30 cm by 16 cm, and 9 cm. The answer was 1824 cm3. We were happy with our answers. Just as we were going to the next box the teacher called us in to figure out our equations. Here is the volume for the boxes. We got Box.G wrong. At least we tried :DSo I got my estimations wrong but it's okay. Doing this project was really cool! ! I love Maths ! Anyway lets start the things we did at the begging of the term. We were put into maths groups and we all worked together. When we had sessions with Mrs Moore she would say "Okay grab 24 cubes and make a rectangular prism. Sometimes she would say that the length and the width and the height has to equal this and that. It was quite hard at the begging because I have forgotten what the 3 dimensions were. I tried asking the teacher but she said that she wouldn't tell because it was art of the session but then I tried and I made it. I now know where and that are the 3 dimensions.Here are Hermione, Paora, and Nejwa having a picture when they finished solving the problem.Sometimes during the week after break we come inside the class and we quickly rule up a 10 by 10 grid. Something looking like this:In the photo I have to plus the numbers at the top and the numbers at the bottom together. I also worked on maths using websites online like using Xtra Maths. A website where you can practise your basic facts. I also use Studyladder and it's great using it. Our teacher sets us tasks to do and we do it ! Maths is awesome ! Basic Facts.
